Mary and Brent Hogarth - Owner/Operators
Brent has been involved with the fertiliser industry for most of his life. Both grandfathers worked in the industry and his father Len worked as a Spreader Truck driver for 15 years before purchasing the company he worked for, based in Spring Grove Nelson in 1987. Len and his wife Glenys, continued to run the business for 13 years. Brent spent his early years riding along with Len in the school holidays and helping out after school and eventually sitting his licences in a Spreader Truck. After completing an Engineering Apprenticeship and working at Brightwater Engineers for 7 years, Brent started driving for Len. And in 2000, he and Mary took over the business.
Brent and Mary now live with their two boys, Jamie and Kane, in the original house and yard that their business started over 50 years ago. Together the family enjoys the outdoors and camping, the boys are often trail riding on their motorbikes and they belong to the Nelson 4WD club (obviously can’t get enough of all that mud and steep hills!)
Ken May - Driver
Ken and his wife Helene live in Stoke. They worked and managed farms in Tapawera and Hira then had their own fencing company for a time before moving closer to town with their family. Ken still enjoyed the country life and found Spreader Truck Driving a great way to still be out amongst it. Ken has been with Hogarth’s since 2003 and has passed all his qualifications. Clients remark on his friendly manner and eager to please enthusiasm.
